6 band radar detectors?
what frequency do most highway patrols use? do they have “pop detection”? and would a 6 band radar detector be better than no detector at all, or are they obsolete due to the new frequencies?
It’s been a several years since I’ve owned one, but the three bands are X, Y and Ka. They may mix those combinations.
My experience with the detector was not so good, they would always give false positive readings from things like automatic door openers, back-up detection monitors from other vehicles, etc. Also, when I did get a good reading, the cop was only a couple of seconds from were I was and going the opposite way.
Also, most units now a days have “instant on” features so basically you’ll only be able to detect them when the cop if using his radar to get the speed of a vehicle, otherwise the unit if off and will not emit a signal.
Further many jurisdictions use LIDAR so your detector is useless in that matter.
